Haridwar University boasts a comprehensive library system, offering a balanced combination of print and digital collections. The resources include the most recent editions of databases, books, and journals, contributing to a rich collection exceeding 20,158 volumes.

The library subscribes to various online databases such as JSTOR, JSTOR SAOA, IEEE, Sage, EBSCO BSE, SCC Online, Lexis Advance India, Westlaw, Hein Online, EPWRF, Indianjournal.com, and is a member of digital consortia such as DELNET, National Digital Library of India, and Shodhganga.

HU library equipped with user-friendly infrastructure includes big spacious halls, multimedia lab, digital sections, discussion rooms, circulation counters, air-conditioned well ventilated premises, neat and clean toiletries, fresh filtered water, and staircases.

Our flexible service hours provide you with the highest convenience and flexibility in accessing the library. Haridwar University Library is completely automated facility with Wi-Fi, Access Control system. Haridwar University Library has set up of 01 Computer Labs to access its Digital Library Section networked through internet connectivity.

News Paper Clipping Service

Newspaper Clipping Service

The library at Haridwar University offers a newspaper facility. This service provides access to a wide range of newspapers for patrons to read and stay informed.

The Newspaper Clipping Service arranges clippings of academic activities, news, notices, advertisements, write-ups, etc. The current work of press-clippings digitization is being carried out in-house by the library staff.

Circulation of Books

The library at the Haridwar University provides this service with varied loan privileges. Students and staff can utilize any library to access this service.

Five library cards per student are issued by the librarian. These cards are non-transferable and must be renewed at the beginning of each semester.

Reference Services

Reference Services

The Haridwar University Library System offers a Reference Service to its users. This service is available in both offline and online formats. Any registered user may approach the Reference Librarian with specific queries about resources, services, or any other academic requirements.

The Reference Librarian keeps records of all reference queries for analysis and to add a greater number of reference sources to the library.

Library Rules

Library Rules
1

Five library cards per student will be issued by the librarian, library cards are non transferable and to be renewed in the beginning of each semester.

The library will not be responsible for the misuse of library card(s) issued to individuals.

A sum of Rs. 100/- per card will be charged for the loss of the library card.

Please return the book by the due date as stamped on the Acc. No. slip in the book.

In case of delay in return of book, a fine of Rs. 2/- per day will be charged.

In case the book is not returned for any reason with in one month, the student has to pay double the cost of the book and he/she will not be further issued any book till he/she clears the library dues.

The student has to bring the slip for the fine due on him/her from the Librarian and deposit the amount in accounts section of the college, get a receipt for payment of fine and reproduce the receipt of fine to librarian to clear the Library dues.

Tearing or folding or cutting of pages or making any mark on the library book is not permitted.

The borrower shall be responsible for any damage to the book as observed at the time of return unless it was pointed out at the time of issue.

A fine of Rs. 2000/- for tearing of pages, a fine of Rs. 1000/- for putting marks/underlining or highlighting any portion on the book and a fine of Rs. 500/- for defacing or making the book ugly will be charged in addition to the price of the book.

Book lost, defaced or damaged in any way shall have to be replaced by the borrower or shall have to pay double the cost of the book.

A member against whom any overdue or other charges are outstanding, shall not be allowed to borrow books until he/she has cleared the outstanding dues.

The Library may recall issued book at any time in case of urgency.

14

Hostel residents about to leave the station, even for a short period, must return all the library book(s).

15

Ignorance of 'Library Rules' will not be excused and a heavy economical fine may be imposed.

Note: The above rules will supersede the rules notified earlier and will be effective from today, 16 Aug, 2025.
